A Helping Hand

VFW Post 666 Supports the Hudson Valley Region

VFW Post 666 in Beacon, New York, is making sure people in their community can get food easily during the pandemic.

In May, members of the Post agreed to purchase supermarket gift cards for the Castle Point VA Hospital Food Pantry in Fishkill, New York. They were able to donate $250 in gift cards to the food pantry.

“The volunteers and staff were very appreciative of the donation which will be used to restock the pantry for veterans in need,” said Post Commander Harold Delamater. “The food demand has increased because of the coronavirus.”

In addition, the Post is acting as a food distribution site for vendors from an area food market.

“This helps provide residents with a secure outlet for fresh, local and healthy products while supporting the community’s local businesses and food system,” Delamater said. The Post is proud to serve the Hudson Valley in a difficult time and will be watching for more opportunities to help veterans and residents.
