An Unending Desire to Serve
Like so many of their fellow service members, the men and women of VFW Post 10804 are Still Serving to better their community in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
At the end of 2024, members donated 200 bottles of water, 100 packs of trail mix, 82 personal hygiene kits and nearly 50 items of clothing as part of the Post’s Stand Down event.
Member Bill LaMonte spearheaded the effort by helping the Post collaborate with area partners, including Bonnie’s Coats for Kids and Veterans, the local Submarine Association and members of the County Lakes community, as well as ShipShape in Norfolk, Virginia.
After receiving a $1,500 Combat Hunger grant through the VFW National Headquarters, the Post and its Auxiliary also held a food drive to benefit their local VA Clinic’s food bank.
When asked why they give back in these ways, Post members explained that their desire to serve does not end when their military uniform comes off.
