VFW Post 9274 and Husayn for Humanity
VFW Post 9274 will be supporting a local grassroots organization called Husayn for Humanity with donation sorting and grocery box creation. Our day of service will take place on May 7th at the Imam Ali Center in Springfield, Virginia (7900 Backlick Rd, Springfield, VA 22150) from 1pm to 4pm.
Flag replacement and veterans home visit
We are from Post 6395 in Spanishfork, Utah. And we will be going around and replacing old worn and tattered to folks who wish too. And during this day going yo our local veterans home and helping out in any way we can.
Veterans without borders
We help vets and vets families with home repairs at no charge to them, where ever they may be we try to help as much as we can as a Post.
Meal for New Recruits
Feeding new high school recruits before they go off to basic training.
Repair Day at Cedar Grange Community Building
Work at the Cedar Grange No. 534 community building. They provide meeting place for boy, girl scout troops, AA groups and other groups. Do drive way, repair potholes, new gravel. Clean yard mow and weed eating, clean up around fire pit alongside the Cedar river.
Memorial Day Cemetery Clean-up
Our VFW POST 4362 will clear the grave sites of Veterans in our local cemetery located behind the Church at 51555 Old Portland Road, Scappoose 97056 and plant a 5X8 flag on each.
Clothing/material drive to benefit the Crestview Area Homeless Shelter.
We will be collecting and soliciting donations of Clothes, tents, sleeping bags, Bicycles and locks, Nonperishable foods to the benefit of the Crestview Area Homeless Shelter.
Cemetery improvement
On May 19th at 1730, VFW Post 5712 will install benches at a local cemetery where numerous veterans are buried.
Veteran Stand Down
Department of Texas District 2 VFW Post 4820 will be assisting with and participating in a Veteran Stand Down at the Orange Convention and Expo Center in Orange, Texas.
This event is designed to assist area homeless veterans and other veterans in need of assistance. Transportation will be available for those veterans that need transportation to and from the Veteran Stand Down. All veterans will be registered so follow-up contact can be possible.
Veterans will also have access to and are required to visit with numerous agencies and vendors that are there to provide assistance and guidance to include employment opportunities in the area.
Veterans will be served a free lunch and provided with free clothing and various gift bags with basic use items after they visit with agencies and vendors at the Veteran Stand Down.
VFW Post 4820 has been assisting and participating in these Veteran Stand Downs for the past 2 years completing 4 events each year. We work with the American Red Cross and our local Vet Center to organize and execute these events for our veterans.
Dignitaries are invited and posting of the colors along with the singing of the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance are all part of these events.
This is how we continue to promote the mission of the VFW, Americanism, and veterans putting the UNITY back into our CommUNITY!
Armed Forces Day Freedom Festival
Mahlum- Hanson Post 1647, Auxiliary and DAV Chapter 22 and Auxiliary have joined to host Armed Forces Day Freedom Festival on May 21, 2022. Plans call for the event to take place in our parking lot with Presentation of Colors, Flag Retirement, Flag Folding, Memorial Service for our deceased members, Silent Auction, DJ, games and more.
Veterans Walk of Flags
The VFW Post 4453, will host this event at St. Vincent Hospital Walking trail in Morrilton, AR. We will be putting up 938 US Flags and all the Service Flags.
Free Breakfast for Veterans & Service Officer Assistance
May 21, 2022 from 7am to 9am
We will be serving community breakfast and will have members Post and National Service Officers available to answer questions and Help fill out forms for the VA benefits and free Breakfast for Veterans.
