Helping Veterans ‘Build Lasting Friendships’

Veteran Paul Hewitt is Still Serving through the nonprofit he cofounded, American Warrior Outdoors (AWO).

AWO organizes outdoor events for veterans to build camaraderie and connect with nature through hikes, camping trips, fishing outings and other outdoor activities.

“I want to give veterans the opportunity to build lasting friendships with others who understand what they went through,” he said.

Hewitt emphasizes that outdoor activities like those offered by AWO are shown to have a number of physical, mental and emotional benefits, making them especially valuable for veterans.

“Our programs can help veterans who are transitioning into civilian life or coping with service-related issues,” he said.

Hewitt is passionate about AWO’s mission and providing fellow veterans the same sense of purpose and connection that helped him on his own healing journey.

“I’m Still Serving because I found solace in nature, and I’m dedicated to helping others do the same,” he said.
