‘I Believe in What the VFW Does for Veterans’

House Springs, Kansas, veteran Quincy Myrick is #StillServing her community and her fellow veterans in the VFW.

A Gold Legacy Life member, she is responsible for recording all Post 1831 meetings and is also preparing to take over as the senior vice commander of the VFW Department of Missouri. As the second female to hold the position, Myrick will oversee 175 Posts and 25,000 members.

At the District level, she serves as webmaster and trustee. Myrick also reviews community service activity submitted by all the VFW Posts in the state and encourages members to participate however they can.

“I enjoy mentoring them so they can carry on the VFW work within their own communities,” she said.

It is important to Myrick that the public understands the sacrifices veterans have made and continue to make for their country. This motivates her to pass on the lessons she has gained from others.

“I believe in what the VFW does for veterans and the community, and I believe in paying it forward for the veterans who will follow, just as those who came before did for us.”
