‘I’m Still Serving to Pay It Forward’

After two overseas assignments and surviving a sexual assault that resulted in substance-abuse and mental health struggles, Selissen relied on Mya for support.

“Her steady source of comfort got me through it,” Selissen said.

During the pandemic in 2020, Selissen deployed with the Michigan Air National Guard to test and treat over 19,000 COVID-19 patients. Today, she continues to provide health care support by connecting veterans to health benefits and resources.

Selissen keeps Mya’s memory in her heart by giving back to others.

“I’m still serving in Mya’s honor and to pay it forward to help those who need it now,” Selissen said.
