Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served in the United States Navy from 2002 to 2023 as a Chief Operations Specialist. My career included assignments across shipboard, joint, and multinational commands where I led watch teams, managed operations and training programs, supported joint and coalition exercises, and advised senior leaders. I worked in real world operational environments and large scale planning efforts focused on readiness, coordination, and mission execution.
How are you Still Serving?
I continue to serve through leadership and community engagement. I am Commander of a Veterans of Foreign Wars post, Flotilla Commander in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, District Commissioner in Scouting America, a volunteer firefighter, and a board member for multiple nonprofits. Professionally, I also support national security and defense missions in my civilian career. My service now is focused on leadership, mentorship, public safety, community resilience, and building strong institutions.
Why do you do it?
Because service is not a phase of life, it is a responsibility. I believe leadership means showing up where you are needed, building systems that help others succeed, and leaving organizations and communities stronger than you found them. I do it to honor those who served before me, to support those serving now, and to invest in the next generation.
