Where did you serve and what did you do?

10 years as a volunteer firefighter with Hinsdale, Illinois Fire Department. 15 years as a volunteer firefighter with Carolina Beach North Carolina Fire Department. Participated in all aspects of emergency response – medical as an EMT, rescue both on land and water as well as all first responder fire scene suppression, search and rescue operations. Currently serving as a member of the St Johns County Fire and Rescue Tactical Support Team. We provide rehab support at active fire scenes.

How are you Still Serving?

Yes – with St Johns County Fire and Rescue Tactical Support Team I respond to alerts from dispatch to support active fire scene with rehabilitation activities including medical checks, refill and replace oxygen bottles and supply active firefighters with bottled drinking water and cold, moist towels depending on weather conditions.

Why do you do it?

Just the way I am wired, I think it is our duty and a privledge to be able to serve one's community. Some folks are just born to serve, I happen to be one of them.
