How are you Still Serving?

As I have reported before. I serve as the post liaison for the Myrtle Beach VA Clinic to help support the clinic’s efforts to feed and clothe veterans in the Myrtle Beach area. I, and Post 10804, are just a small part of a network that supports the VA Clinic’s needs. We do things a bit differently with the clinic in that when the clinic has specific, short notice needs. The Volunteer Services Manager will send me a list of things the clinic could use right-away. This may be food, clothing, personal hygiene items, or items for their various clinic’s, or mental health therapy programs. In this most recent case, it was all three. I get most of the funding from our Post Relief Fund, but I also use other sources such as private donations, a small business owner supporter, a local non-profit and the community in which I live. This time it was Relief Funds and Community support. Along with the clinic’s requested food and clothing items, they also requested workbooks (sudoku, word-find, crossword and adult painting) for the Clinic’s mental health therapy programs. My community came through with 69 of these needed books, 10 hardback novels and three puzzles. The Clinic also had a need for a coffee dispenser for their morning “Coffee-Cart”. Post 10804 provided two of them. Pictured is me delivering $1,168 in requested items to the Clinic Volunteer Services Manager Mrs. Anderson. All told, for the week 1st week of March, me (Post 10804) and my supporters delivered $1,328 in needed goods to the Myrtle Beach VA Clinic. Why do you do it?

Because I always say that I know there are fellow veterans out there that are less fortunate than me and other veterans and I will do what I can to help those in need.
