Where did you serve and what did you do?
Served from 62 to 70, Nuclear and Diesel Powered Submarines in most of the oceans of the world. Homeports on the East Coast, West Coast and Hawaii. I was an IC1(SS) which is a Submarine Qualified Controls Technician.
How are you #StillServing?
Yes as a CSO. To get extensive financial relief from the government, the veterans must tediously prove that their health problems today were caused by their military service. I volunteer with the DAV to provide veterans with research and form-filling help.
This staying home has hit us pretty hard here. Most of our folks are old and not in the best of health. We still do emails every day as well as phone some. We’ve started a list of folks to call for face to face appointments after we can open the office again. Completing benefit packages with some of them just can’t be don’t over the phone due to hearing issues, not understanding what they need to do, etc. So sad. I hope this settles sooner rather than later.
Why do you do it?
My wife Paula and I volunteer for the Vets we serve and what we learned the hard way in writing my claim.
It’s good to know that what you’re doing is right and that you’re helping somebody. We’re proud of what we’ve done. They call us bulldogs. We don’t ever give up. We don’t stop.
