Where did you serve and what did you do?
USAF 1966 to 1987 Air Traffic Controller, 22 months in Vietnam
How are you Still Serving?
My goal as a SC VFW VAVS representative to the Myrtle Beach VA Clinic is to do what I can to help the clinic help area veterans (and their families) in any way I can as requested by the VA Clinic Voluntary Services Manager. In doing so, I seek help from our post, area businesses and even my own community. My most recent contributions included a local Food Lion store that gave me 130 meal boxes, each box feeds a family of four. Which I donated, in the name of Post 10804, to the VA Clinic’s United to Combat Hunger food campaign. The clinic traditionally feeds about 40 veteran families a month, along with numerous single and homeless veterans. The other part of this recent activity is. I have a female friend who owns her own business and she is a Navy veteran. She donated to me enough personal hygiene supplies that my wife and I were able to put together 100 personal hygiene kits that contained 2 tooth brushes, 2 tubes of tooth paste, stick deodorant and a disposable razor. I also gave to the clinic 10 new long sleeve, turtle neck sweater shirts. Total value this trip $1,330 . The photo is of myself (left) VA Clinic Voluntary Services Manager (center) and VFW Post 10804 Commander Mike Mallory (right) delivering the 130 boxes of food. Almost all items donated are from a specific items request from the VA Clinic
Why do you do it?
because there are veterans less fortunate than many and I have the desire to help where I can.
