Where did you serve and what did you do?
I was in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard for 11 years. I spent one year in Korea and 2 1/2 years in Bosnia. My first 8 years of service were as a 19D Cavalry Scout. The last 3 were as a 35L Human Intelligence Collector.
How are you #StillServing?
I am an active member of my community helping support a variety of organizations, primarily in supporting our unhoused brothers and sisters. I also work in civil rights, indigenous peoples’ rights and women’s rights. I also sell legal service plans to provide affordable access to quality legal representation to the 80% of Americans who simply cannot afford to pick up the phone and talk to an attorney.
Why do you do it?
Too many people do not have a voice of their own and whenever they are treated unfairly, there is no legal recourse. I want to stand up for people who have been marginalized in this country. Americans pride themselves on claiming that they have more rights than most other countries, but what is the good in having those rights if you can not access them? That’s where I step in.
