Where did you serve and what did you do?

I served for almost 32 years starting as an enlisted Russian linguist and intelligence analyst serving during the Cold War in (the former) West Germany, then getting a national ROTC scholarship. After commissioning, I served as an Army Aviation officer qualified to fly the UH-1, OH-58A/C, UH-60, and C-12 aircraft. After getting a Functional Area designation, I served as Russian and East European Foreign Area Officer working in Afghanistan and in the US Embassies in Moscow, Minsk, and Budapest. I ended my active duty service as the Chief of the US-Russia Direct Communications Link (The "Hotline" or "Red Phone") office in the Pentagon.

How are you Still Serving?

Today, I work at the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and am the Executive Secretary of the U.S.-Russia Joint Commission on POW/MIAs (USRJC).

Why do you do it?

I do it because I strongly believe in the promise to bring every Service member back home. We have a noble mission that I am honored to be a part of.
