Where did you serve and what did you do?
Served 6 years in the Illinois Army National Guard, Charlie Co 2/130. Deployed to Iraq in 2005.
How are you #StillServing?
I’m serving substance misuse prevention professionals, law enforcement officers, and military veterans to empower individuals and foster partnerships to promote safe, healthy, and drug-free communities. Additionally, I work with multiple non-profits including the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children, Missouri Association of Community Taskforces, and the Quality 360 Healthcare Alliance. I’ve developed and published the Student Veteran Daily Planner which helps veterans build a plan for success in college.
Why do you do it?
Through my personal story returning from my deployment, battling PTSD and substance misuse, I’ve seen the impact it can have on individuals, families, and communities. My time as a police officer added to that perspective and provided a bridge connecting my military skills and personal story to a new field where I can make a difference in others’ lives.
