Where did you serve and what did you do?
I was a Medical Logistics NCO in the Air Force from 1976 to 1996. I performed duties on the Space Shuttle Support team, working out of the TAL site in Banjul, the Gambia. I deployed with the 48th TFW Air Transportable Hospital (ATH) to the Middle East for Desert Storm and Provide Comfort in Silopi Turkey and Zakho Iraq and then served as a member of the DOD Olympic Security Team during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.
How are you #StillServing?
I have been mentoring Civil Air Patrol Cadets since 2003 as a Cadet Programs Officer and in conjunction with that, I have been the event manager for the Wreaths Across America Day activities in Fayetteville, Arkansas from 2005 – 2019. Currently, I am in the process of creating a Veterans Ministry with the United Methodist Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Two days a month I teach History/Genealogy classes at a Health and Wellness Center in Oklahoma City, OK.
Why do you do it?
I was put on this earth to serve others and to use my life experiences as lessons to teach/mentor others. I am an advocate for other veterans and whenever possible, supporting them with claims information and advice. I get immense gratification from helping others succeed or overcome obstacles.
