Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served and retired with the US Army with over 25 years of service. I deployed in support of Operation Provide Relief and Hope in Africa, Operation Iraqi Freedom 2003, and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan 2011.
I was fortunate in my career to serve in the Berlin Bridge after the wall came down in 1992-1995 and the experience was amazing. I started as an Indirect fire mortarman, served in Fort Irwin – National Training Center in the OpFor, served as a Military Police and ended my career as a Battalion Career Counselor and Battle Staff Non-Commissioned Officer.
How are you #StillServing?
I’m an advocate for our veterans in the northern Nevada area working with several groups to promote suicide prevention and awareness in the community. I work with veterans to find resources and support for their issues. Today I serve as a VAVS Representative at the VA Sierra Nevada Healthcare System in Reno for the VFW.
Why do you do it?
I have difficulties dealing with some events that happened in my military career and see the benefits of assisting and working with others. It was an honor to participate and encourage veterans to participate in the Bataan Memorial Death March in 2019.
