Where did you serve and what did you do?
I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California for 4 years. I served in the Marines Wpn’s Company 1/9 81 mortars as a forward observer. We did 2 deployments to the western pacific and I was honorably discharged in October of 1986.
How are you #StillServing?
I am the president of the Cpl Curtis M. Swenson Memorial Fund for the last 9 years, co-chairman of the MN Goldstar Family Families Memorial Monument (in progress), a lifetime member of the VFW, DAV, Marine Corps League, POW/MIA Riders and American Legion.
Why do you do it?
Our son was killed by a roadside bomb in Helmond Province, Afghanistan on April 2, 2010 while serving with the 1st BN 3rd Marines. My wife and I have dedicated most of the last 10 years serving our veterans and their families in honor of our son and all those who went before him.
