Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served in the Marine Corps for 22 years. I completed 7 deployments world wide to include two Combat deployments to Iraq. I Served as an Infantry Marine for 17 years and was the promoted to 1stSgt where I served my last 5 years outside of the Infantry. I was stationed in Camp Pendleton, Quantico, MCB Hawaii, Wisconsin and Twentynine Palms. I had many billets in my 22 years.
How are you #StillServing?
I am still serving today by volunteering with local veteran organizations and most recently I was hired to be a County Veteran Service Officer where I get to directly help and support Veterans and their families.
Why do you do it?
I am doing this because of my strong desire to serve didnt end after I served my country. I struggled my first year of retirement because I felt like I was missing something. So I sat down and figured out my passion was to support my Marines and Sailors. So how can I do that after retirement? I decided I needed a way to help the Veterans and to set a positive example of what a veteran is in my community. Luckily I am able to do both. I do what I do so that I know the veterans in my county are receiving the support and care they deserve and I am setting an example for future generations to see that serving their country is not only an honor but it makes you a better person because of your service.
