Where did you serve and what did you do?
Between 1967-1971 I served one year in Turkey and two years in Japan. My MOS was 98J30H8. I can’t say more than that, but I served in the Army Security Agency.
How are you #StillServing?
I am a life member in both the VFW and American Legion. My passion is serving on the Memorial Squad at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. I am Chaplain, Board Trustee and Squad Member. I am in my 12th year. We had 135 volunteers performing military honors on a weekly basis prior to COVID-19. We have been locked down since early November 2020. We have lost two of our members to the COVID-19 virus. Our average is 71, but we have two members in their nineties who would come out on a weekly basis.
Why do you do it?
For our heroes and their families who lay their loved ones to rest at this national cemetery. For no other reason than to watch our comrades on their final march.
