Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served in the Vietnam era as an infantry (grunt).
How are you #StillServing?
I started a nonprofit organization called Holiness Ministries Coalition dba Lamb of God Foodbank and have been serving our veterans in the North County of San Diego in the mobile parks and wherever else I can locate the food insecure veterans during the COVID-19 pandemic. For the past few years before the COVID-19 hit, I sought to provide food for food-insecure veterans and their families and asked for help from the VFW, DAV, and the American Legion to which I happen to a member of for financial support to acquire a larger facility to provide more resources to our veterans that no one seems to care about.
Why do you do it?
I do what I do because I know firsthand what it is to be a homeless veteran that was hungry at a point in my life and could not even get because of my drug addiction and confusion in my mind as to why was I being treated in such a manner after serving my country honorably. When God restored my mind and placed in my heart the memory of the conditions I faced a homeless and hungry veteran I vowed to always remember those who served and that may be eating out of garbage can as I did just to survive and that I would do whatever I can to be sure to no veteran has to face what I had to as long as I have breath in my body.
