Why do you do it?
Serving vets-in-need is a most rewarding activity especially since we quarterly advertise “VFW OFFERS HELPING HANDS” courtesy of the local paper and social service workers in SE CT know our record now after serving over 70 veterans and their families with one-time temporary assistance services vetted by our VSO and Trustees and normally coordinated with a State of CT VA certified VSO. As an example and in conjunction with Work Vessels for Vets, we have purchased 3 used cars for Vets-In-Need of transportation. Since 2011, private donor contributions from outside our Post have reached over $62,000 and we have spent over $45,000 on helping Vets-In-Need Relief.
