Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served 4 years in the US Navy and 30 years in the US Army. I deployed and served in the SW Asia conflict, the Gulf War as a Sergeant; 13B Section Chief on 109 Howitzer.
How are you #StillServing?
I have volunteered for over 10 years and worked alongside retired Army First Sergeant (E7) Terry Bird, founder and CEO of the non-profit organization Nehemiah House of Refuge. I am currently CFO for Nehemiah’s House of Refugee “Fathers Giving Back” Scholarship Program, Sr. Vice Commander of Paul S. Lawrence Memorial VFW Post #9857, Columbus, OH, HOA President for our Waggoner Park Condominium Association, and a member of Eastpointe Christian Church Elder Board.
Why do you do it?
To offer men optimism that have already been identified as at-risk, an opportunity to work with case managers, navigators and other advocates to help improve their ability to develop a positive attitude towards their future. The long-term goal is to empower men to break the behavior cycles that are leading to destruction, imprisonment, or death. To make a change to become leaders in their communities, families and place of employment.
