Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served in the Arabian Gulf, the West Coast, and the East Coast. I was an aviation maintenance administrationman which means that I handled the paperwork for the aircraft maintenance technicians as well as the technical documentation and administrative work.
How are you #StillServing?
I volunteer and ride horses at BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding and Educational Center. I help with lessons and therapy sessions. Horses have saved my life. They have helped me to reconnect with the world around me, have given me a sense of belonging, and have taught me how to relax.
I also am involved in different forms of expression, such as music, painting, and creative writing. My current project is painting a donated well-loved guitar and repurposing it so that it can be a display piece and be submitted for auction. This is to benefit the Guitars for Vets program.
I am also involved in the publicity and poppy committees for my post. I’ve sold poppies, been involved in planning the yearly poppy display, and written press releases for events related to the post.
My service dog, Orion, is always by my side.
Why do you do it?
Keeping busy benefits my mental health and I like giving back to my fellow veterans
