Where did you serve and what did you do?
Vietnam 1968-69: 3rd Bn 16th FA Americal Division (Fire Direction Officer and Forward Observer w/B 1/1ACR) and MACV Advisory Team 17 MAT I-16 (Team Leader)
How are you #StillServing?
From mid-March to the first of April as part of the state response, I was deployed as a Unit Supply Leader (warehouse manager) for a facility where all PPE for the State of Wisconsin was received and distributed to medical, non-medical and emergency response agencies. This as part of a melded Incident Management Team.
I was in 2017 deployed to Texas as part of the Wisconsin Type Incident Management Team for the Hurricane Harvey Response. I also serve on a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Incident Management Team as such I also am available through the ROSS (Resource Ordering and Status System) for deployment to wildfires nationally. In addition, I currently am active contract instructor for Emergency Management Institute an educational wing of FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security and the State of Wisconsin. In this role, I have taught in almost every state within the Union.
Why do you do it?
This country and my state have given me untold opportunities, I’ve spent my entire adult life serving (19 – to present). I find no other task so rewarding as to in the end realize I’ve helped…that feeling is and always has been what drives me. The picture submitted is of me back to camera briefing the Deputy AG – State of Wisconsin (BG David O’Donahue).
