Where did you serve and what did you do?
Gail served 25 years in Marine Corps retiring as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. She was a drill instructor at Parris Island and has deployed numerous times.
How are you #StillServing?
Gail serves as the VSO and a trustee for Post 9133 and also works at veterans services of the Carolinas, where she helps veterans in need: picking up and delivering food from the local food bank, helping buy Christmas gifts for veterans and their families, finding housing and helping veterans pay bills.
She recently was a key person in organizing and executing a veterans stand down, for all veterans but focusing on homeless veterans. She helped to coordinate and bring many community organizations under one roof. Veterans received flu shots from the health department, food from Smithfield’s, haircuts, information and needed supplies such as boots, coats, hats, socks, masks, and hygiene items. She was also awarded Combat female veteran of North Carolina in 2019, and currently is a member of the NC-1 Tar Heel chapter of the WMA.
Why do you do it?
I would say Gail does this because she really cares about Veterans and their well-being. I am her friend and also a VFW post 9133 member, and totally look up to her.
