Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served 26 years in the Army as Military Police, with three combat deployments (Somalia, Kosovo, Iraq) retiring as Command Sergeant Major (E-9)
How are you #StillServing?
I am currently the Commander for the Department of Colorado.
Why do you do it?
I have always aspired to be elected as Commander for the Department of Colorado but due to my high stress/anxiety levels as result of PTSD from combat deployments, I never felt I could successfully perform those duties. In May 2019, I was assigned my service dog, Katy, to assist with performing daily activities in public settings (to include driving in large cities) along with engaging in activities involving large crowds. I then decided to pursue the position of Commander so I may have the ability to teach, coach and mentor fellow VFW comrades but most importantly, to share my success story of having a service dog and provide programs to Veterans to help them get a service animal to improve their livelihood.
