Harry

Sumner, Washington

Where did you serve and what did you do?

USN, MM1(SS). USS Pollack SSN 603, 1979-1983. M Division, nuclear power mechanic. Home ported in San Diego, two Western Pacific deployments.

How are you Still Serving?

I am now a civil legal aid paralegal who runs a clinic in Kent, WA that defends low-income residential tenants in eviction matters. We provide free legal help to tenants who can’t afford a lawyer, so that they may remain housed and not become homeless

Why do you do it?

Mine is a job with a mission. It is gratifying to help low-income tenants stay housed, by leveling the playing field between them and landlords with attorneys. We are an emergency room for eviction defense, and can often resolve a case in an hour or two, with financial assistance and agreements between the parties. We do help a lot of veterans in the process
