Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served nearly 5 years as a Master-at-Arms in the Navy doing law enforcement and anti-terrorism force protection in the Middle East and Japan.
How are you #StillServing?
I own and run a small outpatient mental health counseling center called Symmetry of Self Counseling Center serving south New Jersey’s men and women veterans, first responders, survivors of sexual assault, survivors of childhood trauma and those grieving the loss of a loved one. I am currently providing remote telehealth therapy sessions so that clients can continue their therapy progress from the safety of their homes while social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Why do you do it?
It has always been important to me to help my military brothers and sisters heal from their experiences and learn how to transition back to life outside of the military.
I have seen the power of good therapy and I want to show my military family, that it isn’t what you think it is — you don’t have to “suck it up” — you can work through it and we can do it together.
I understand how difficult it can be to start the counseling process and how vital it is to find the right counselor for the job. I know that many veterans would feel more comfortable talking to someone who understands them and it has been my mission to provide them with the support they need for whatever journey they are on.
