Where did you serve and what did you do?
I am an active-duty Marine that was serving the community of Victoria, Texas as a station commander of the Marine recruiting station.

While serving that community, my wife and I adopted our first dog together from a local animal shelter. Her Name is Canela. Right off the bat, we knew that she was special, and so well behaved, and well-tempered. I would often take her to my office to hang out with my Marines and me. She would often bring comfort to the Marines during a high stress, and high tempo duty. She was also well liked by the members of the other branches in that building. She was often looked for by all of the applicants that would come in and out of my office and would even sometimes run physical training with the newly enlisted individuals getting ready to take on the challenge of becoming a United States Marine.
Why do you do it?
It honestly was something that was almost instinctual. The first couple of times I took her to the office, I did it to have someone to hang out with. After just a couple of times, I started noticing how loved she was, and how much joy she brought into people’s lives. In the end, she was part of RSS Victoria, Basically the Station Commander.
