Where did you serve and what did you do?
I joined the USAF right after 9/11/2001 and was an Air Traffic Radar controller for a short period of time but was part of the ‘Force ReShaping’ of 2003 and got to switch jobs to become a Security Forces member. I was stationed at Mt. Home AFB ID / Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ (with forwarding deployment in 2005 to Camp Arifjan Army Base Kuwait and Theater Internment Facility Camp Bucca Iraq till summer 2006) / and last station duty at Minot AFB, ND where I served as a Physical Security Manager for the ICBM program. I served 8 years Active duty and 2 inactive due to a lung dysfunction just prior to deployment to Afganistan.
How are you #StillServing?
Along with my wife and my 2 sons, we are active in 3 veterans organizations and of course, I am a life member here at the VFW post-2037. We do what we can to raise funds for vets in need, participate in morale-boosting activities and occasionally just call and harass each other to keep our situational awareness keen.
Why do you do it?
I love hanging out with my fellow service members in big groups because we get a chance to mingle and rekindle the good times and help each other through the tough times that are not so easy to talk about. This commodore is what has made me a successful person outside of the military.
