Where did you serve and what did you do?
Army National Guard – 9/11 at Ground Zero in New York City.
United States Army – Operation Iraqi Freedom I in Kuwait/Iraq.
How are you #StillServing?
I am happily retired under honorable conditions; I now do Community Service with city, state, and nonprofit organizations.
Why do you do it?
I chose to serve my country to make a positive impact for God and Country, myself and my family. My paternal grandfather served during World War II and Korea; my maternal great-grandfather served during World War I; my brother served; my brother-in-law and his son served. I continue to serve the community, state and nation and continue to help our nation’s comrades and their families, and I follow the quote of this country’s most distinguished military leader and Vietnam Veteran: “I will leave no one behind.” “Dead or alive.” ‘We will all come home together.” “So help me, God.” -Hal Moore, LTC, Commander, 1-7th CAV, pre-deployment speech before the unit deployed to Vietnam and fight in the battle of Ia Drang Valley in 1965.
