Today I am a puppy raiser for Can Do Canines. This organization provides service dogs for Mobility Assistance, Hearing Alert, Seizure Alert, Diabetes Alert, and Autism Assistance. As I puppy raiser, I teach puppies basic obedience, good house manners and get them used to working in a public setting. When the puppies are about two years old, they return to the Can DO Canines facility for “puppy college” – final training and matching with their person.

Why do you do it?

Puppy kisses. Seriously though, it is a great organization which has such a huge impact on the quality of life of their clients. It’s great to be able to play a small role in these pup’s lives.
