Tell us how your dog is helping you continue #StillServing in your community.
My service dog Brave has helped me in many different ways. I am now able to go out and walk among the community and feel ok doing so. He has helped me to go to different places and know that I will be safe. I also make sure that he knows that he is safe with me around as well. Yes, he has his days where he can not necessarily handle the public for a long period of time but we both manage to get through it together. He has become a great ambassador to educating the public on and about service dogs and just what they do for us veterans. Brave has shown himself to be to me, the best service dog I could ever ask for because there have been many times where he has saved my back and I do my best in return for him. Brave goes out of his way to make people around him feel safe and comfortable. If he sees another veteran in distress, he works his way over to that person and lets them know that for right now everything is ok.
Why do you do it?
I do it because I look forward to a safe and somewhat calming life. I make sure that he stays trained and well-focused so he is able to stay on tasks when needed.
