Where did you serve and what did you do?

I served 24 years in the US Navy. While attached to Amphibious Group Two staff as N-34, Operations, I was tasked to I nspect all Amphibious ships, Combat Information Centers for tactical readiness during Operation Desert Shield.

How are you Still Serving?

Today, I am the Webmaster, Facebook Admin & Event Coorfinator for VFW Post 2033 in Woodville, Texas. On 9/9 & 9/10/2023 we hosted our largest event to date, our First Annual Patriots Day Weekend Extravaganza with multiple vendors, food trucks, and Live Bands for our community of 17,000 people. Our cost of admission was a new child’s Christmas toy for our Marines’ TOYS-FOR-TOTS program. Saturday evening the Texas 357 Band delighted the croud and just prior to evenings end, the band still playing, 409 & 337 Slingshot Riders from Texas & Louisiana amazed the crowd with over 100,000 lights as each Slingshot rode upclose & personal with them & representing VFW Post 2033, Woodville, & VFW Post 4820, Port Neches, Texas. Then on Sunday the members of Post 2033 were delighted with a special private concert by Dan Ennis of Houston, TX with jokes & special requests, including a happy birthday song for one of our recommendations for 2023 Teacher of the Year, Lori Ann Ferris-Johnson.

Why do you do it?

My degree was leading to a Political Science & Corporate Communications Dual Majors, and my previous Baker College of Flint, MI, in Website Design in 1998 makes our VFW Post communications very rewarding!
