Where did you serve and what did you do?
I was in the Navy. I served on the USS Samuel Gompers during the Gulf War. I worked in the Repair Department as a liaison with the Supply Department.
Our ship’s main mission was to supply and repair other ships. When we were out to sea they would tie up alongside us. My position was to order the supplies and control the budget for the individual repairs and ships that came. My actual rating was a Machinist Mate.
How are you #StillServing?
I joined the VFW because my parents were both members. My father was a retired Airman and served in Vietnam. I qualified because of my service and my Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal I received while serving in the Gulf War.
I’m volunteering at the VA as a Soldiers’ Angels Representative.
Why do you do it?
Between my grandpa, my dad, my brother, my son and myself, there are over 100 years of military service in my family. I know and understand how much it means to the vets to have someone understand and help them. I’m one of them!
