McAllen, Texas

Where did you serve and what did you do?

I was assigned to Fleet Hospital 15 in Al Jubayl Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm as a Respiratory Therapist. I served 9 years in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman.

How are you Still Serving?

The hospital I work at has a mission to improve the lives of the communities we serve. I serve on our mayor’s Wellness Council helping to engage the community in activities that improve well being. I work with the McAllen Kid’s Marathon to promote health for children and their families by having the student-run a full marathon over the course of 8 weeks and volunteering at the final mile where the child earns a medal and gets a great t-shirt.

Why do you do it?

I struggle with PTSD and exercise helps me cope. It has improved my physical and mental well being and I am passionate about sharing that with my friends, colleagues, and community.
