Where did you serve and what did you do?
I served 26 years; 20 years Active Duty as a Cavalry Scout and 6 years in the reserve as a Warehouse NCOIC. I have served in El Paso, Texas; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Fort Carson, Colorado; Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania; Wiesbaden and Mannheim Germany, with three tours to Iraq.
How are you #StillServing?
I am still serving as the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Colorado, State Chaplain. In my role as the State Chaplain, I have found ways to connect with our States Chaplains to help them understand their role as a chaplain in a veterans organization.
I have found an organization that wants to start an outreach program with the VFW to help veterans and family members. The organization has supported Colorado and a few other states over the past few years with bible ministries and other materials that help veterans, all free. I received permission from National to place the VFW logo on the bibles to help our chaplains with their ministries. The organization also stated they are going to help us start a veteran chaplain training program that will be for all VFW, VFW Auxiliary, and other veteran chaplains organizations. My focus is the state of Colorado but will always share to support other state veterans.
Why do you do it?
If not me (and others) then who? I do it to serve our Lord’s people. I serve those that served others in their times of need. I do it for my brothers and sisters I served with and now look for help. I do it to let all veterans know that there is still someone on watch for them. All it takes is the contact for help and help will come. I do it to serve and be a servant.
