Where did you serve and what did you do?
I was in the US Army 10th Mountain Division light infantry. I served in Iraq as a team leader in the infantry and Afghanistan as an infantry squad leader.
How are you #StillServing?
In 2016, I started a nonprofit called DownRange Excursions. We provide wilderness excursions to military law enforcement and first responders to give them a break and allow them to naturally combat service-related issues. Then in 2018, we started DownRange Supplements to generate unrestricted revenue for DownRange Excursions. This allowed us to affect our mission without wasted time engaging in traditional fundraising and promote a healthy and active lifestyle to the veteran, military, law enforcement and first responder demographics.
Why do you do it?
I do this because I found healing through wilderness excursions and physical fitness. It pulled me out of the darkest period of my life after leaving the military. I feel it is my responsibility to help promote this to the countless others that served and continue to serve in the hopes they might find the same healing and structure after service that I did. Although this path may not be for everyone, if we help one individual lead a happier and healthier life while trying to reintegrate into the civilian world our mission has been met.
