Where did you serve and what did you do?
U. S. Army Sergeant in Vietnam 1968-69 running an aviation electronics shop in support of the Army’s OV-1 Mohawk high-tech surveillance aircraft.
How are you #StillServing?
As VFW Post 1647 volunteer webmaster, I added a page to a website with VA clinic COVID-19 information, even before Minnesota’s governor announced the closing of bars and restaurants. The site is updated sometimes twice a day to keep people informed. The post chaplain put a prayer on the home page. Paid Brainerd VFW advertising, on nine radio stations in the area, was updated and the script is on the website. Post member Sterling Molby contacted the Red Cross and arranged for a two-day blood drive, which was posted on the website, put in the local newspaper and on radio stations as public service announcements. Then the Red Cross schedule changed to April 2nd and 3rd so the rescheduling information went out to all. A blood donor came in dressed as the Statue of Liberty.
Brainerd VFW Auxiliary member Kathy Brastrup is sewing face masks and donating them to a local clinic.
Why do you do it?
Giving back to our country.
