We train Service Dogs (REAL SERVICE DOGS) for Veterans, Police, Fire fighters, EMS and first responders diagnosed with PTSD.
Canines 4 Heros and National PTSD Service Association is a 501c3 not for profit serving Florida. Allie is our spokes dog for the foundation and my personal dog. 4 years after starting the foundation, MUSH TO MY SURPRISE, I was diagnosed with PTSD myself. Allie is a tremendous support. NPTSD.org. We are sponsoring a clay shoot in late October 2022 in Nakomis, FL with a goal of raising enough funds to train 12 service dogs. Unfortunately our waiting list is well over 50….!
Why do you do it?
After returning from my 3rd Deployment flying combat missions in Afghanistan and Iraq, two of my military friends committed suicide. I was shocked and appalled at their lack of resources to help them with their PTSD issues. I founded first the National PTSD Service Association and then Canines 4 Heros and fund raise to pay for the dog and its training for the Veteran, Police, Fire fighters, EMS and first responder recipients. We work solely on donations and 100% of what we raise goes to training the service dogs. We have worked with several companies in the local are who have donated dog training gear and even fences for our recipients
