Where did you serve and what did you do?
Persian Gulf War, 1990-1991
Active Duty USAF Security Police
Air Base Ground Defense
Deployed September 1990 from Bitburg Air Base, West Germany
How are you #StillServing?
Security Officer at Munson Medical Center, responsible for the safety and security of all medical staff, patients, and visitors. For three weeks now, our security officers are manning all entry checkpoints into the hospital, being the first to make contact with everyone who enters the hospital.
Why do you do it?
After 11 years in the USAF, and a career in the Michigan State Police, my life is still one of service which is why I work at our local hospital. And even though we make the first contact with all who enter our doors and don’t have N95 masks to wear like the medical staff wears, we have to rely on social distancing to keep us safe. We also have to make physical contact with potentially violent patients frequently and do our best to keep them from spitting on us, especially since we’re unmasked.
I believe our country’s veterans can do and are willing to do anything for anyone, especially now when Americans have high anxiety and are struck by fear of this invisible enemy. God bless America and God bless every veteran who has served honorably, past and present!
