Where did you serve and what did you do?
After 2 years if training at Great Lakes, Vallejo and Idaho Falls, I primarily served aboard the USS Denver in the Pacific. I first worked in Electronics, then Broadcast Journalism while also serving as Chaplain's Assistant.
How are you #StillServing?
After getting out in San Diego in 1976, I went to Pt. Loma Nazarene University and received a BA in Pastoral Theology / Biblical Literature and followed it up with a degree in Counseling. Since that time I have served and continue to serve as a Bi-Vocational Church Planter and Counselor for Southern Baptists primarily for Veterans who struggle with PTSD and Suicidal Ideations.
Why do you do it?
The reason why I do this is because of my experiences in Solitary Confinement and because of the Role of Chaplain Jack Peters, Capt. USN who took me under his wing and spent approximately 3.5 years training me to be Available to assist the Marines who had experienced PTSD in Vietnam Combat. It was Captain Jack who modeled what I do, mentored me in it and throughout my encouraged me to continue to serve Jesus in this way.
