Where did you serve and what did you do?

I was a weapons crew chief for the A-10 aircraft in Kuwait at Ahmed Al-Jabar Air Base for multiple tours. My unit supported CSAR operations over Iraq on several occasions including Operation Southern Watch post war.

How are you Still Serving?

I joined my local post about 2 years ago and saw that they needed a lot of help with their maintenance. Now retired, I spend a lot of time there, making repairs, maintaining the property, applying for grants and obtaining support from local retailers in the form of community service projects. I work with the leadership team there to improve our community relations and our support of veterans. We now have a social media page, a monthly newsletter, several events that include our neighbors' participation as well as providing programs targeting young veterans with families.

Why do you do it?

My family has a long line of veterans who served honorably. I feel as though I have more to offer in civilian life as well as my work in the military. I've seen some of my friends who served in Viet Nam and suffered nightmares and flashbacks on numerous occasions. I consider myself lucky and, because of that, I want to help those who weren't.
