Where did you serve and what did you do?

I served in the US Navy onboard the USS John F Kennedy and at NAS Whiting Field as an aircraft handler and aircraft firefighter from 1996-2000 Active and in the Navy Reserves as a boatswains mate from 2000-2008.

How are you Still Serving?

I still serve today as an American Red Cross Disaster Action Team responder to those who are involved in a single home house fire, multi family home house fire or disaster. As a DAT responder, we meet with clients during a home fire to get them immediate assistance and resources after the fire department leaves so they can begin their recovery from the loss of their home. I also serve as a deployment lead in my chapter helping with sending our local volunteers to national disasters providing aid to those who are in areas that endure a natural disaster such as floods, earthquakes, hurricane, tsunamis, wildfires, tornados and extreme heat and cold.

Why do you do it?

I serve because I like to give back to my community and be there for those who are in need. I like to give a hug to the person who is having the worst day when they have lost everything and show compassion that someone cares about them.
