Air Force Civil Engineer – Thule AB Greenland, 821st Support Squadron 2007 – 2008
Led base operations supporting 537 facilities worth $2.5B providing operations/maintenance, logistics, engineering and construction, medical, airfield operations, lodging, housing, and communications. Base earned most effective use of human resources, Verne Orr Award. Guided first development of five-year plan addressing $973M of decaying facilities/infrastructure in harsh Arctic environment. Crafted $2.2M transportation plan with dispersed partners and assets for critical generator repair program ensuring continued power for remote, isolated Arctic location saving $400K by using strategic air transportation availability. Drove world’s northernmost deep-water port operations ensuring 7.5M pounds of cargo and 9M gallons of fuel were delivered and off-loaded to maintain life support during harsh Arctic winter.

I volunteer for the Society of American Military Engineers Northern Virginia Post Emergency Preparedness and Infrastructure Resilience Committee Chair. The EPIR Committee supports SAME goals in resilience in the Northern Virginia region by contributing to government and private sector collaboration to minimize the impacts of and enhance effective response to natural or manufactured threats. I’m currently serving as the 2nd Vice President overseeing the Post Board of Direction.
I also served as the Board of Directors President for the Veteran Project Manager Mentor Alliance for part of 2021. VPMMA is a non-profit empowering and equipping military service members, veterans, and spouses to achieve project management career greatness through mentoring and professional development.
In addition, at Parsons, I assist MILVET efforts to align qualified transitioning military members with project management fellowship (SkillBridge) positions. He introduced MILVET leadership to Vets2PM to provide pathways to transitioning military members to attain PMP during Parsons fellowship.
Why do you do it?
Helping active and transitioning military members, their spouses, and veterans energizes me outside of my daily work.
