Where did you serve and what did you do?
Croatia; Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Civil Affairs.
How are you #StillServing?
Collect and deliver tennis balls to the recreational services at the Biloxi VA facility. For those times I have more tennis balls than they can take, the excess has gone to the Military Working Dogs at Keesler Air Force Base.
Why do you do it?
In 2010, I relocated from NY State to Mississippi to help my parents out. My father who served in the Coast Guard was using a walker and wearing down tennis balls used as glides. I saw the need my father had for replacement glides and started going by the local tennis courts to scavenge up balls left behind that weren’t lively enough for play. Soon I had more than needed and thought how best to use them, would be fore those using walkers as well. My latest delivery to the VA was just this August, even with COVID-19 precautions in place. 253 tennis balls start to fill a duffle bag.
