Where did you serve and what did you do?
Served in NYC
I was on recovery missions throughout the city and worked alongside members of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner within various morgues in NYC. The mission was a Joint Tasking between the Army and Air Guard.
The deceased were recovered from homes, hospitals, and nursing homes, just to mention a few. Some died hours earlier; others had been deceased for days, and even weeks. Our primary concern was to provide the deceased, as well as the living, the utmost respect and dignity while recovering the remains. We did it for the deceased and the living!
I assisted OCME staff with fingerprinting decomposing remains for identification. While at the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal, we received, stored and transported corpses from all over NYC.
How are you #StillServing?
I check in on members serving on other missions to ensure they are well and their families are well. I check in to see if they have any necessities that either myself or my wing could assist with.
Why do you do it?
I do it for my country, I do it for our people, I do it because it must be done!
