Where did you serve and what did you do?

Army Vietnam 64-66. Huey Crew Chief/Machine Gunner. Flew 672 missions, nine Air Medals. Discharged in 1970. Spec 4. Air Force 1973- 2001 Crew Chief KC-97 and, in 1977, KC-135 Air Refueling Tanker. Served in Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai. Retired in 2001 as Chief Master Sergeant, the Technical Advisor to the Commander.

How are you Still Serving?

In 2006, I joined the Beaver County Special Unit, a group of volunteers from different VFWs and American Legions. We conduct military funerals for veterans to show their families that we appreciate the veteran’s, and families of those veterans, for their support the the USA.

Why do you do it?

It’s important to show the families that we are grateful for the veteran’s service, and also for the support of those families. In 19 years, I/We have conducted approximately 3500 services, averaging around 200 each year!
