Where did you serve and what did you do?
Sixty Some Odd Years Ago
Sixty some odd years ago a young man joined the corps
And headed west to serve his country on a foreign shore.
He left behind a brand new bride, but yet it was his duty,
He wiped her tears and kissed her lips, oh Lord she was a beauty.
The years passed by, he changed his garb and wrapped in army twine,
This time to war he had to go, two sons he left behind.
With courage she fought back the tears; she knew it was his duty.
He wiped her tears and kissed her lips, oh Lord she was a beauty.
O’er the years we’ve traveled wide, half a world away
At last we wound up in this place, and here I do now stay
The time for travel is now past, and here I do my duty
Remember how I held her hand Oh Lord, she’s was still a beauty.
And somewhere through the mix of time, God extended out his hand
And said, I know that you’re not perfect son, but do the best you can
So take the lessons that I’ve learned, a hero you may not be
But 60 + have come and gone and there she stood by me.
I thank the Lord because of her, a hero I did not make,
But my life has real meaning, for a diamond I did take.
So now you ask, 60 years? What does that mean to me,
A lovely wife, a loving God, for all eternity.
How are you #StillServing?
Just send some moeny once in a while
Why do you do it?
