Where did you serve and what did you do?
Combat related I was the S1 NCOIC and Assistant Adjutant of United Nations Command – Joint Security Force, Joint Security Area, Pammumjom, South Korea. Retired Badge number 11 and won the Friend to Friend Award of the Republic of Korea 1990 and a Meritorious Service Medal, along with a Presidential Unit Citation.
How are you #StillServing?
I am the VFW Department of Oklahoma, Public Relations Officer, editor of three Facebook pages and two groups, District 4 Senior Vice Command, Service Officer, Post 3658 Quartermaster, Adjutant, surgeon, POC, VTS Coordinator, and Driver. To date I have published a weekly column in five SE Oklahoma weekly newspaper 332 articles related to VFW benefits, VA news, Oklahoma Veterans Medical Centers news, North Central Texas Medical Center news, local SE Oklahoma VFW Post information (when I can get it), Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs news and the recent bills signed into law by the state or federal government.
Why do you do it?
Many of the veterans in SE Oklahoma do not have access to the internet, do not know how to use a computer (or smartphone), and need a source to keep up with what is going on regarding their benefits and who to contact regarding getting them. As the VFW Department of Oklahoma Dist 4 Service Officer, I use the published works, two Facebook Groups to keep the District Post Service Officers and the Choctaw Nation Service Officers up to date on what benefits they can help their local veterans obtain.
